Can someone explain how to whistle with fingers?

I've always wondered how people did this... you know, where you put your thumb and middle finger in your mouth and whistle incredibly loud? I think that would come in very handy.

I can do the same type of whistle just using my tongue and lips.

(hint) pratice making wind sounds and work your way up
