Can someone explain how Republicans came to be the racists?

Here's how...

http://news.msn.com/us/no-at-gop-unfortunately-rosa-parks-didnt-end-racism

So the Republican Party put out an official statement racism ended in 1955. How many more of these kinds of things have to occur before the staunchest supporters must acknowledge at least a willful ignorance.

And I don't want to hear the continued bullshit excuse oh it was an accident. This was the official GOP twitter account. Nothing comes from there without approval at the highest levels in the Republican Party.

Anyone involved in politics with even the slightest historical perspective would have known that is no where close to true.
Thanks for clarifying that for me Homer. I'm not sure how many more of these kinds of things have to occur before the staunchest supporters must acknowledge at least a willful ignorance. Mirrors are such curious things.

Hey Zappy not just Strom

Lee Atwater taught Republicans how to be racist without using overtly racist words/phrases as part of the Southern Strategy. Lee was working for Republicans in the 90s. Not that long ago.

Very recent example Senate aide to Rand Paul also known as the Southern Avenger said

When the story came out Paul blew it off as a youthful indiscretion. Paul didn't unequivocally condone the quote and kept him on the staff. When the outrage reached critical mass Paul allowed SA to resign.

Just few.

Not just Strom, there is also an aide and a strategist. I guess that settles it then.

You deserve to be condescended to because you act like a child. But you chose to respond by mocking slavery. Yes, what you did mocked slavery by equating my condescension towards you with a slave responding to his "masta". It was a disgusting thing to do and it just further validates that you should be treated like a misbehaving little shit of a child.

I don't know a specific time frame but I do believe it all started once the liberal/progressive democrats realized they could never win any debate with a conservative using facts and logic - so they resorted to calling their opponents racist in order to deflect the discussion away from the argument they were losing.

I saw it here and there in bits and pieces going back as far as the 1980's but it really didn't start to gain mainstream prominence until late 2008 / early 2009. It hit its peak around the time of the 2012 elections and is still very popular among the MSNBC commentators and talking heads.

so if you took 100 random people with confederate flags on their trucks, now or in the past.

what percentage do you think will be republican and what percentage will be racist?

and those guys with the white pointy hats, republicans or democrats?

I apologize for mocking slavery to anyone who may have legitimately misunderstood what I was actually mocking. I thought I was being quite clear, however, I also know that I can be easily misunderstood as well. So I think it's important to say this. As for you thraashman, I have nothing to offer except contempt...the very thing you offer so freely to those who dare to disagree with you.
