Can someone explain bowling scores to me?

A perfect score is 300 which is 12 strikes in a row right?

Well if there are ten pins and a strike is knocking all of them down 12x10 is 120 not 300. Spares and strikes with adding ten for first etc. is very confusing. I can keep score but it just doesn't add up! -M

You have to understand that scoring for bowling was developed by two seven year olds trying to outscore each other:

I got a strike so I get an extra ten points.

You do not!

Do so.

Well I got strike follwed by a spare so I get ten points plus the ten for the spare plus another ten just because.

Oh yeah well I got two strikes in a row so I get the ten plus the ten plus the points from the next frame twice so there!

Think of it this way:

There are only 10 frames in bowling. The last two are considered Fill Balls, and not actual frames.

In other words, a strikes adds 10 pins plus whatever you get on your next two balls...not frames, balls. So the 11th and 12th "frames" are simply the "next two balls"......basically.

That's actually pretty retarded, lol.

Bowling scoring is simple. You get the points for your frame plus if you spare you get the next shot added to the frame. If you get a strike you get the next two shots added to the frame. That's it. Even GED folks can figure that one out.

I shoulda been a pro-Bowler. 😀 Some of the best times of my life were spent in bowling alleys.
