Can someone explain Battlefield 1 tick rate?

I guess when you play the game on the PS4 pro in 1080p you can access 60hz servers and at 4K you access 30hz tick rate servers only. What does this mean and why would they limit 4K players to the 30hz servers?

I would imagine that while having more resolution (4K) you would have to either make those users suffer with half the frame rate, or force the others (1080P) to slow their frame rate.

Well I know that neither the base PS4 nor the pro hold 60fps. It even at 1080p. So that's why I was wondering. The pro actually performs better than the base model even though it is rendering the game at 1800p.

Your information is incomplete.. and partially bunk. tick rates do not need to be separated by others. Separating your player base over 3 different viewing resolution modes just does not make any sense... everyone should be playing in the same pool of servers. Otherwise your pool of 4k players would be extremely small.

The tick rates TO the server need to be consistent, so the tick rate is probably 20-30 times a second because the base game runs at that performance level. You could probably program the server to accept faster ticks and simply work with the users with slower tick rates, but considering we are talking about shiat tier network coders who have almost no cheat code protection, I am not going to give them that benefit of the doubt.

So if your outgoing tick rates are only 20-30, your incoming tick rates will never be faster. They COULD be slower.. but anything slower then 20 would be noticeable.

Uh...your info has nothing to do with that I'm saying. When you select 4K on the PS4 pro you cannot access the servers that say 60hz next to them. They only show you 30hz servers. I am asking why this is. No it doesn't make sense but on the server list you can see both 30hz and 60hz unless you select 4K in which case I don't see any 60hz options. Am I doing something wrong?

So fragmentation has already started with PS4 pro? I remember mentioning one of the major reasons I was against the upgraded PS4 was because it would fragment the communities and people thought I was crazy because Sony claimed all games would be compatible. Has it already started happening less than a month after the console was released?

Not sure. I can't find any solid info on whether it's me or what. I searched for a long time last night to find out about this game specifically.

Edit: someone on another forum said the 60hz servers are in testing at this time and that the 30hz servers are the standard for consoles right now so not to worry about it. Not sure if he is right or what.

So apparently my info was not correct originally. You cannot see 60hz servers at all because they don't exist for consoles right now. It is all 30hz. I just confirmed this for myself. I was told that there was 60hz servers and even saw a screenshot but I guess that was unreliable.
