Can someone answer a quick question about DVI connectors?

I'm confused, and I've looked around at some sites to no avail -- maybe the question is too basic.

Anyway, I have an LCD display (Eizo FlexScan L565) which has a DVI input (and D-sub, which I'm using now), and an ATI 9000 with DVI output. Now, if I want to use the digital out on the video card to the digital connector on the monitor, what do I use? I have seen the little DVI connection converters so could I slap one on each end of the normal D-sub cable and hook them up that way?

I cannot find a DVI to DVI cable here locally, and I haven't found any place online that ships to military APO boxes which has them without a ridiculously expensive shipping charge. Thanks in advance for your help.

I wish my monitor had included a DVI cable -- you'd think for $600 they could throw one in!

Ouch on the price for that Belkin!! Damn. I really need to find something locally.

So can anyone answer the question about the adapters? I'm guessing that they're just a stopgap and won't too well, but I'm still holding out hope. 🙂

Thanks for the answers.

The convertors just uses the analog signal. Since most video card DVI is anlalog or digital. If you used the dvi to vga adapter. It'll be the same as just hooking up to the vga.
Your stationed in Japan and can't find a DVI to DVI connector.

Shop around, you can find Belkin cables at cheaper prices,I only paid £18 for mine, about $26.

BTW I forgot to answer your DVI adptor question.

You can either use the VGA output connector on the card to your VGA input on your LCD or connect the DVI/VGA adaptor at the ATI card end and use a vga cable to your LCD(VGA input again)but I did find the quality not as good using the adaptor on my LCD ,if you can use DVI great if not then use the dedidcated VGA connector on the ATI card rather then the DVI/VGA adaptor.

Why don't you give ebay a try? I got my DVI cable from the largest on-line bidding web site for less than USD$10 here in Taiwan.

No kidding -- I've been to three different computer stores here in Okinawa, and NONE of them had DVI cables. Two out of three had the adapters, but that was it. The odd thing is that they stock PLENTY of flat panels, including the one I bought (with no cable). Part of the problem is that I can't read most of the signs so I probably don't know where most of the computer stores are! 🙂
