Here's a pic of the card out of its shell. I think I know where it is, but I want somebody to point it out & let me know how it works (if possible).

I'm guessing that it touches the metal shell of the card to create more transmitting surface area????

Card still is powered via pcmcia, but it won't "connect". It started connecting when I pushed the card a little & I'm hoping that I was forcing the metal to touch the antenna.

Needless to say I'm frustrated as all hell, but I'm here now & have to deal with what I've got.

TIA

youre probably forcing something in the connector to make a connection....my mom dropped a card like that and had to always put a little pressure on it to get it to set just right so the laptop would pick it up...the connector end wiggled a little.

do other cards work in the slot ok? can you see any broken connections anywhere?

You have two Antennae on the card.

The L shape strips on the right side of the board that you took a picture of, are the Antennae, the lower one is tagged ANT2.

Antennae for UHF have to be precise they do not attached to more metal, it would short the signal.

That it is quite strange that you are: ?frustrated as all hell?. Coz of a Card that can be bought for less than $20.

Take a grip of yourself, give a big smile:D, and buy a new card.

Thanks guys.

Ya, I know I shouldn't be frustrated, but this is the 2nd card this has happened to. First time was somebody leaving the laptop on the couch armrest. This time was loveseat, but wife got up & knocked it right off. I heard this horrible crash & knew it bit the dust. Fortunatley the laptop was ok, but I just feel like it's a constant fight to keep techonological goodies around the house safe.

I need to build a steel cage around my network stuff. Then I need to buy a Toshiba "toughbook" that can be dropped from 10ft & drug behind a moving vehicle at 60mph.

That's where the "frustrated" part comes from.

I'm borrowing my old card (now daughter's card) that was a little tweaked by a 'friend' of mine, but it works fine in the slot. I also looked at the pins in the slot & they're ok, so I think the card (card #1) just bit the dust.

:(
