okay i've always wonder what some of these mean and which one i need to turn on some i know but most i dont

volume=i know what that means:)
cd audio=i know:)
line in=???
microphone=know:)
pc speakers=know:)
auxiliary=??
tad-in=??
midi=??
wave direct=know:)
spdif-in=???

line in= from the "line in" port on your soundcard

auxiliary= usually second cd/dvd connection on the internal plug of your sound card.
tad-in=??
midi= well, almost all cards can support midi. Its a digital sound format. Older games use it a musicians use it.

spdif-in= digital audio from most good cdrom drives. requires an spdif cable and plugs internally to youe sound card
