Can somebody help me identify the strange sound that comes from my laptop

The motherboard and the fan has been replaced but the strange sound still comes back.

This is how the computer sounds normaly.

This is the strange and loud sound that randomly shows up.

The computer is a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo A 1650.

I have tried to understand where the sound comes from and i have only one fan on the laptop, so i can only guess that its the source o the strange sound.

The only other moving parts in your machine are in your hard drive so it could be the bearings, but there's no way to know for sure from your recording. I think you're going to have to take it to a qualified tech to open it up and localize the sound.

I'm sorry, but maybe my hearing is not good enuf to hear anything out of the ordinary...

the second track has sounds that are similiar to a laptop hard drive doing something... but then again maybe I missed the "other" sound which you are referring to.

sorry

There are only two possible sources for a screeching noise - a dying harddisk or a coil in the power supply and backlight inverter circuit.

In the Amilo (a Uniwill 255KI3 chassis, right?) you'll locate these in the lower left and upper right corner, respectively.

Thanks for all of the replies.

I think i may have fixed the problem, since i restored my c drive with a image file, some of the drivers didnt work as expected (i think i got a newer motherboard then the on i has when i created the image of my c drive) so i reinstalled the amd processor driver that makes my cpu variable speed instead of always working on full speed.

I may be totally wrong, if so i will tell you guys so that another possible solution could be found.

The driver didnt fix the problem :(

Does The coil in the power supply mean that the power supply is gonna fail on me?

I have warranty so should i get it fixed as fast as possible?

I have two such units, both the same age. One is silent, the other is screeching - without any signs of getting any worse. But yes, if it's under warranty, and if it really annoys you, do talk to your supplier about it.

Writing that, I remembered how to test whether it's the backlight power circuit - let Power Management turn the display off after a couple of minutes, and listen whether the noise goes away when the screen goes dark.
