Ok, here's the problem.

I was at a PC cafe the other day and I really needed to access my credit card account online. I accessed it, however I realized that it isn't the best thing to do because somebody could be "reading" the information..

You never know i guess. It wasn't on a WIFI network, but landline.

I ran Adaware/AV stuff on the computer to make sure it was clean and it was.. However, My question to you is, even with a SSL encrypted logon, can somebody still read my password/account information?

If they had a keylogger on your system, they could capture what you were typing and then use that to access the account on their own...

If you were accessing your info over the web with SSL... not likely.

Someone could have been recording your keystrokes with a video/audio recorder tho.

if there's a trojan yes it's possible. even something as simple as a keylogger would bypass all that encryption because it would record what you type exactly.

I ran a AVG FREE antivirus software.. would that more than likely be enough to see if there were any trojans?

That's probably good enough. The cafe owner would probably have some kind of preventive/maintenance procedures for this kind of thing anyway (I hope). But I'd keep an eye on account activities just to be sure.

do you guys know if there are key logging programs people can access from via another location? Kind of like install it there, and access the keylogger elsewhere?
