Okay i just watched the movie...Can someone please explain what the hell went on? How did the kid know so much? And why wasn't Rachel supposed to let the little girl go so the aden at the end said. And why did she never sleep? And why did the horses kill themselves? Why why why? And what saves you from dying? Just copying the tape? Or copying then showing someone the tape? I mean i'm lost here.

The girl was evil. Everything hinges on that.

You should try whacking off to scary movies...especially in crowded movie theatres....it helps relieve the stress. Plus those two chicks in the beginning were hot.

Ok, its been a while since I saw the movie but, little girl was actually bad instead of good, came out of TV screen due to some severe mental ability and killed. thats pretty much it. Horses jumped in water because of her death.

the girl was evil. the girl is what ties this all together.

the kid listened to the girl. she wanted to be heard.

even if rachel let her go, it would NOT END what was going on. she would still continue creeping people out if they viewed the tape. as the kid said, she just wanted to be heard. putting her to rest wasn't enough. her father hid her in the barn remember because he didn't want anything to do with her. that was traumatizing for her. and then in the mental ward she NEVER slept apparently. she knew she wasn't wanted. and the father never wanted to have a daughter or something along those lines. i'm NOT watching it again to figure it out for sure

the horses were creeped out by her and jumped.

you have to pass on her message and let her be heard to save you. that's why rachel didn't die - she made a copy. someone else can now see it.

also in the japanese version their faces didn't change like that. they pretty much got scared to death, frozen in a scared look but otherwise the movie is pretty much similar...

she CREEPED the hell out of me when she came out of the tv. i turned away the second she started coming out of the well. *shudder*

Ok, i'll try to answer some of your questions... but i've watched all 3 of the Japanese version too (original, sequel, and prequel), so my mind is a little muddled.

How did the kid know so much?

I'm not exactly sure to be honest... i think Samara linked with the kid because they were similar in same age, and were also distant from their mothers (that's why he called her Rachel)... so he was able to understand/sympathize with herr. Weak explanation, but i never really gave it much thought.

And why wasn't Rachel supposed to let the little girl go so the aden at the end said.

Because she really was evil.

And why did the horses kill themselves?

I think it drove her mad to live with the horses in the barn... also her dad loved horses more than her.

And what saves you from dying? Just copying the tape? Or copying then showing someone the tape?

Simply copying it didn't save you. You had to show it to another person. Samara wanted people to see what she went through, her suffering and torment, so she cursed it so that people had to show others her 'dream' or they would die.

I AGREE! I'm a HUGE horror movie buff, but The Ring has scared me like few movies have. Both the original Japanese one(s) and the remake.

Ughh....I hate ambigious movies :(

So why did the boy even talk to her to begin with? I mean he was talking to her all along. Why did she chose to talk only to him? And also, if the kid knew what the deal was why didn't he say anything? Couldn't the girl have talked to anyone? What made the boy special?

No i thought it was good, I enjoyed it. Just think it coulda been wrapped up better. It's not that i was confused necessarily it's just to me at the end there were some unanswered questions thats all. Apprently the enlightned DannyLove was able to make a sweeping conclusion about my inteligence from that tho.

I've heard people praise the original Japanese version was better and had less holes... but to me it was the complete opposite. It had so many holes that they need to make a sequel to fill in some of them, and then a prequel to fill in some more. The remake from Hollywood attempted to wrap all 3 into one movie. I think it did a good job myself... it does take a couple of viewings to appreciate it more IMO.
