These errors are listed in the event viewer. I can't find a description or a way to correct them.

#1 - The driver detected a controller error on \Device\CdRom1.

#2 - The device, \Device\CdRom1, has a bad block.

#3 - WMI ADAP was unable to load the winspool.drv performance library due to an unknown problem within the libraryL 0x0.

What is a bad block on a Cd-Rom? Am I going to have to RMA my drive? I could really use some help finding an explination for these errors, a way to fix the problems, and a place where I could go to with any other error messages I get.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hai,

Hmm first of all I don't really know the answer to your questions, but I dislike unanwered threat myself. :)
Anyway badblock on cdromplayer is a little strange, in your error message there is talk of and faulty library so it could be a dammaged dll or something like it.
What I would do in your case was search the ms website for related troubles and do a newsgroupsearch on deja.com that is mostly very helpfull when I am experiencing problems.
Use some significant part of the error message that works great.

good luck

I may be able to help with #3, go to "services" also in "administrative tools" scroll down to "print Spooler" start it and make sure it is set to "automatic".

#1 maybe related to #2, download/install the lastest firmware for your cdrom.

Reboot and see if that helps:)

Try this Link

It solved my problem(today) for your question to:

3 - WMI ADAP was unable to load the winspool.drv performance library due to an unknown problem within the libraryL 0x0

Thanks for the replies. I knew there was someone here who could help.

vfrjim, thanks for the link. It looks like that will correct the error. I'll try it when I get home.

rbv5, I just upgraded the firmware on my tdk veloCD to version 1.07. Maybe it didn't work correctly. I guess I'll have to try again.
