Yea, read my other post about Toshiba's new Floating Body Cell (FBC). It's only single transistor on a partially-depleted (PD) SOI wafer. PD-SOI devices suffer from what's called the 'floating body effect.' In the oxide layer, there's basically extra charge floating around. Instead of using a capacitor for charge storage, the FPC device tries to utilize the charge inherent in the PD-SOI oxide. It actually works, but still a few kinks to work out.
