can/should i use Upnp with two PCs on one router ?

right now i disabled upnp and i have two comps, each with static IP on my linksys wrtg54g.

Question: AM i able to utilize upnp on any of the PCs to "configre the router"..eg. for limewire etc.

Until now i didnt, just use port forwarding. How would upnp "know" what router port is free and not used by the other computer ?
