can shaving your head really stimulate hair growth?

This sounds like an old wives tale but is this true? I'm 22 and am slowly going bald and wonder if shaving my head would help.. It sounds retarded but I feel that probably cleaning my (bald) scalp and applying rogain directly to it would some how help..

No, it only offers the illusion of thicker hair. The shaving process blunts the hairs, making them appear bigger.

I still don't believe it though. I grew an abe-lincoln style beard a few years ago, and if I don't shave every day now, I start to look like the wolfman

I've been shaving my head for over six years now. Whenever I let it go for awhile before shaving I can see where my receding hairline has moved further back.

So no. If you're going bald you'll continue to go bald even while your head is shaved.

it may slow the process of losing hair but will not help growth. Although I have nnoticed that every time I shaved my head, my hair grows much faster.

I know that when my wife pulls a mole hair from my back, 2 grow in it's place....and so on and so on.

Try pulling your hair out.

Shaving "blunts" hair? lol. Now I've heard everything.

Yes, it is true. A few stylists prefer to use a razor blade to "shear" the hair, rather than cut it because cutting the hair leaves the ends fat (blunt). Think about it: your hair is tapered at the ends because of wear and tear. If you cut it, it will get a flat end (like cutting a carrot). The flat end is wider than the tapered end, making the hair appear thicker.

Yep,

Irritating an area that has hair follicles makes it regrow hair, if it can. Thats why women who end up with mustaches aren't supposed to shave them off. They'll grow back bigger and bushier than ever.

Just shave your head now and get it over with. This way you can say you never went bald.

The sad truth is that our God is a prankster. Why else would He have hair grow in places that we don't want (ear, back, butt) but have it disappear in places that we do want -- such as our head?

I have been shaving my head for years, and it still grows as slowly now as it did before I started shaving it.

Had to shave my head about a month ago as I had a really bad haircut... Anyways, it's not so bad but the lights feel hot on your head. Also, remember to wear sunscreen as having heat stroke ain't fun. OK.
