Can schools do this?

I'm trying to see if there is any legal reason against this.

My school hasn't allowed pizza deliveries for the past many months because SRT Classes (like a study hall type thing where you can get passes to get help from teachers or just work on homework) have been ordering pizza. Well, the administration seems to be expecting that everyone work every SRT and not have any fun. With the end of the year coming up, many of the classes want some pizza or something.

Is there any legal reason why they can't do this?

I know it sounds stupid, but it could be a security risk - pizza deliverers aren't students, and I don't think the administration wants them walking around in the halls during class.

Also, if they don't let pizza deliveries happen in school, it takes away the possibility of a prank happening where a student gets stuck with a ~$200 pizza bill. I've seen it happen.

Ours doesn't either, they sell crappy reheated Pizza Hut pizza for $1.50 a slice. Your parents can bring in pizza but that's about it. I guess if you came to school during lunch or something you could bring pizza but I don't think it can be delivered. Plus all the delivery guys are still in HS anyway.

man that sucks we used to orer pizza all the time

we ordered it in college as well, that was real fun

wtf? school isnt a party you know. ordering pizza in no way contributes to your education, so its just a waste of time when you are at school to learn.

One or two kids from each class go down and pick up food at the front door, not a security risk IMO anymore than kids bringing backpacks to school

As far as those huge bills, we haven't had that problem, not saying it won't happen, but that's not why the stopped allowing pizza deliveries

when I'm in SRT near the end of school, we just listen to music, play cards, talk, etc. anyway, how is pizza any worse?

those things are just as bad. but i can see letting those things slide as it is the end of school.

they probably stopped it because they realized it would be all too easy for someone to oh, i dont know, have their dealer dress up as a delivery guy and deliver some goods. it happens all the time at drive thru windows, home deliveries.

Just send someone to meet the delivery guy at the front of the school.

If the administration doesn't like it, tell them to f u c k o f f . 🙂

😀

Well I graduated and went to class about 75% of the time.. and only had like 4 periods.. so lol, what hurt could pizza do ?

It is a distraction. Teachers and staff have enough to deal with as it is. Logically, they limit the amount of available distraction so that they can do their job and teach you.

don't be such a dumbass... if it's against the rules to order out for pizza, then order out for chinese instead.

Of course they can do it. No constitutional right to having pizza delivered. That sucks. We could get away with it to some degree since we were the gifted school, but most regular schools had to EAD and couldn't order.

There doesn't have to be. The school can set policies to whatever it wants. Essentially the school owns your @ss during school hours, and even while you are walking home from school.

In other words, the school admins basically become your parents during school. They don't need any legal reason to restrict your rights on campus.
