Can Sblive! value be hacked?

i read that the sblive series had the same chip in each of them, so what is the difference? Also, since it's supposedly the same chip, is there a way to flash the bios or something to get the live value to register as something else? say like a sblive platinum?

the only diff btw them is software, I think the 'core' drivers are the same. Also, some have different outputs as well.

it has fewer pins on the extension header as live (so if you add same digital i/o card to it, you'd get fewer things than live),
it doesn't have I2C connector as live.
(I'm talking about the retail value, not oem variance)

You don't need to hack it, it uses same emu2k chip as every live, you can use same liveware 3.0.

In terms of the Platinum vs regular, I thought the only difference was the live drive thing that sits in your 5.25" bay w/ extra connectors.

What could be interesting is making a Live! Value (4.1) into a Live! 5.1

how about something so it registers as an x-gamer or something? you know, like how you can flash the iomega CD-rws to register as plextors... i know you can use the same liveware, but i dont want it to say value anymore

Why risk damaging the card just to change the word Value to something different? The Value is functionally IDENTICAL to the X-Gamer and the MP3+ (not the 5.1 versions though), they just come with different software.

listen, I won't repeat again:

live value retail has the header for creative digital i/o board, so also good for hoontech (hoontech especially makes those board for live value mainly, because live already has a spdif board)

the difference is live value retail has fewer pin on the header than live,
so if you buy creative digital i/o board, you won't get all the features as from live.

live value oem variants may not have that, check the real thing before purchase if you want to buy the oem.
