Can RX 480 8GB or GTX 1060 6gb do 2k gaming?

Just wondering between the 2 GPU's " GTX 1060 6gb and RX 480 8GB" which will do 2k gaming with a single card without SLI or CrossFire? Medium to high settings is what im after. So which will be the go to card for this level of graphics?

My RX480 8GB is handling my 2560x1440p monitor just fine at high settings.

Seeing as 2k is just a tiny bit more than normal 1080p, either shouldn't have an issue for most games with those settings.

Ok I am leaning more toward the MSI RX 480 8GB not the X version. Is this a good Card? Have not bought a AMD card for like a year or so now. I think the last AMD card I had was a 7850?

Its alot more resolution, hardly tiny. 1080P is 2.07m pixels 1440p is 3.68m pixels, so close to double the resolution. That said both the 1060 and RX480 have the horsepower for 1440p at medium settings with current games.

Its a great card, i own the gaming X though. Its quiet, it doesnt throttle at all even when overclocked, and the temps are great. I find the stock fan profile a little lax and if you ramp it up a little you can get even lower temps without much more noise.

He is asking for 2k and 2k is 2,048 x 1,080.

Also 2k is not a normal computer resolution but more of a tv version usually.

Yep thats the one alright :) Should I go for it?
What one is it?

The oddball 2k tv type monitor or are you talking about 1440p as that's 2,560 x 1,440?

I wouldn't recommend anything below a 1070 for 1440p myself and even then that would be ok for medium settings for some higher up games.

It is the setting between 1080p and 4k..?? Star Wars Battle Front shows an option on my PC for 2k resolution? I think its 2556x1440p and 2556x1600p.
For 1440p like that you can try it if you want as the reviews shows both types hitting 50-55ish fps for ultra for that game so it should be fine if that's the main game you are playing right now.

Actually I am play Deus Ex and Doom right now and Star Wars every now and then... But anyways, Thanks every one for all your help. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the MSI RX 480 8GB Version. Hope this will hold me over for at least a year till next gen series of cards show up, not meaning refreshes either..:p

Good deal, thanks again!! I was sweating bullets not knowing much about the newer cards. Just went from 7850 to 750 ti to Gtx 960 and now to RX480. I guess I should have asked but does this card play 4k video or Blu-ray Ultra HD? Kinda curious seeing how my GTX 960 4gb card has a 4k decoder built in for 4k playback.
