Can Regular DVD Players Read DivX Discs?

No. Only DVD players that have divx/MPG4 hardware decoding can. Lite-on makes a decent one.

Nope!!! There are a ew but buyer aware as some of your earlier Divx 3 or 4 encodings may not work correctly or if you used QP and some other settings it could be buggy...

Check out www.doom9.net to read his reports on man of the players that have been arriving over the last year. I bet they are better now, but early ones were iffy and a lof of my stuff is and was Divx 3.11 codec....Now I see no reason to Divx encode with cheap DVD burners and chep media...

I actually have converted half of my Divx titles to mpeg2 DVD with TMPGenc and they all play fine on my 2 dvd players, my relatives as well...basically I have noticed DVD players of the last 2 years will read my DVD-r and DVD-rw disk just fine....
