Can red stuck pixels turn on and off?

I have this one red pixel on my monitor pretty much dead center. If I tap my monitor it goes away then after a while it comes back on. And again if I tap it, it will go away. Is this something that has happened to other people?

If it is a LCD, try massaging the spot gently.

This happened to me on one of my work monitors. I had a bright blue pixel, but when I touched the screen it would disappear. It was annoying, but I lived with it.

I am happy I work for the IT department, I swapped it after a few weeks and passed it on to someone else. lol
