Can Power Supply Be Problem?

When trying to install Windows XP Pro, it will get halfway through the file copy process then tell me that such and such file cannot be copied as it doesn't match the image or something like that. Now, it installed on my wife's computer with all my components tried in her's, but, the only difference on mine is I have two motherboards that I tried with the same error, only thing on my computer I didn't swap was the PS. Was curious if this might be the problem? Thanks

Never even thought of that. Why I asked if it was the PS was when I had it running, from time to time my Hard drives would disappear and system would lock up. I'd have to pop open the case and wiggle the power connectors to them. (Thinking that they came loose. Actually, they weren't...but one can hope) Been getting random file errors on the computer as well and games would get file errors as well. Will have to check into the memory thing. They are cheapo samsung DDR2 533 modules. But, would hate to have to replace them as they are only 2 months old and 1 gig per module. (2 of them)

Try Memtest. Or even Microsoft's free RAM tester. Both are small ISOs you can burn to a CD, boot to, and give the RAM a good checkup.

Well, don't even have to run any tests. I have to say thank you as it was the memory. I pulled out the second stick and left one in and guess what? You guessed right. Windows installed flawlessly and surprisingly, my system actually responds faster with the 1 gig than with the 2. Thanks again for steering me in the ram direction. I was almost ready to go buy a PS. (Although I wish it were just the PS. Now it's going to cost me more to get better memory..heh) At least now I can see if the system will stay stable for now.
