My supervisor and I have similar senses of humors, and we could both be described as cynical, with a touch of smart-alect-ness.
It irritates me when I make a comment and everyone laughs, then the next day I get counseled on that same comment because it was inappropriate, then the day after that, he makes an almost identical comment. He's poked fun at people above him and below him, often more than I have.
There are two differences between us. 1)He seems to not be able to laugh at himself. If a joke is directed at me, I laugh and it rolls off my back. If a joke is even slightly directed at him, he sulks for a day or so, then chews the individual who made it out in his office, and then will direct a similar joke at another individual shortly after. 2)Hes one pay grade above me. For reference, we're both in supervisory roles.
Now, I am not a difficult person to get along with, but people like this really infuriate me. And really takes a lot to anger me at work. I don't think its a stretch to describe this person as a hypocrite.
