I tired this question on the OS forum and got no answers in 3 days - I hope there are some here. I have a system that keeps finding the same printer on every boot. I let it install, but it does no good. There is an article on the MSFT KB board here:

I have tried the suggested solution, but it doesn't work. The OS is XP Pro. Any ideas here?

I don't know if this will help but you can turn pnp OS off in your bios probably or turn off plug n play via your mother board or bios directly. Maybe downloading the latest drivers for your printer will do it... alternatively, you could drop that lame OS and go hardcore linux style 🙂 <--- that's a guaranteed solution ;-)

Go to Servies and then Stop+Disable Plug and Play. Not recommended though, but it works.

The motherboard BIOS Plug and Play option has been predicated by ACPI, so that won't do anything.
