Not going to get into lvl 1 tech support, so skipping straight to my problem. When using the built-in LAN adapter on the laptop I can see and access the other 2 computers and the other 2 computers can see and access the laptop. This is not ideal as the laptop will be on the wireless network mainly. When using the built-in WiFi adapter on the laptop I can access the other 2 computers by searching for them by name, but can not browse them from the workgroup. Also the other 2 computers can see the laptop in the workgroup, but get the "permissions/network path" error. I can ping the computers and router from the laptop and visa versa. I have all the computers configured manually due to the SP2 wireless bug (eternal acquiring address, and yes i've tried all the fixes out there, manually configuring was the only way that worked).
So, I need an answer on why the laptop can not share files/printers with the other 2 computers that CAN share files/printers with the laptop. What I HAVE tried:
1. Messing with Local Security Policies for access
2. Changing node type to Hybrid (was originally set Broadcast)
3. File/Printer Sharing is enabled
4. Netbios over TCIP is enabled
5. No Firewall software active
6. Update Wireless drivers
What i need the laptop to do: Share Printer over network (laptop;s user has the printer and uses it most frequently, is not convienent to move printer to another computer so that is not an option)
What i CAN do:
1. Access the internet
2. Access the other computers on the network, but not through workgroup
My Settings:
D-Link DI-614+ Wireless Router (192.168.1.101, MSHOME) - What other info is pertinent?
Generic NIC (Comp A, WinXP Pro, 192.168.1.102, MSHOME) - What other info is pertinent?
Generic NIC (Comp B, Win98 SE, 192.168.1.103, MSHOME) - What other info is pertinent?
Laptop Built-In WiFi (Comp C, WinXP Pro, 192.168.1.104, MSHOME) - What other info is pertinent?
Laptop Built-In NIC (Comp C, WinXP Pro, 192.168.1.105, MSHOME, disabled as the router is in another room) - What other info is pertinent?
Let me know what I can clarify so I can resolve this problem, any help or input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, JonJonSanfru.
