Can ping, but unable to access webpages

Hello, let me fill in as much as I can. A computer connected to the router (as is this one I'm on) is unable to access HTTP, possibly other protocols because updates fail to grab definitions etc. However the interesting part is that I can ping IP and yahoo.com style domain successfully.

I have tried:
- flushing the DNS,
- running winsockfix,
- running spybot,
- running adaware,
- turning the router off for 1min
- made sure windows firewall was not on (no other firewall installed)
- tried Firefox and IE, no proxies enabled


Does anyone know if this can be fixed?
