can ping but not by name

I have a machine on my home network that I can ping by it's IPaddress, but if I ping by name, it fails.

What do I need to fix?

It used to work..

Both machines are set to use Opendns, but I could change that on one if that would help.

IP's are set as 192.68.2.2 and 2.3, and I like to be able to ping 192.168.2.3 by it's name.
Easy to do in a host file, or better to let 2.3 get it's dns from the router?

OpenDNS wont be able to resolve PC names behind your router, since you can have the same name as your friend has, and possibly 100's of others.

Sometimes having the router do DNS works, or use the hosts file
