Can PC motherboards with socketed BIOSes flash EEPROM and FlashRAM?
I know Intel uses FlashRAM soldered on the board, and I thought nearly all other motherboards used EEPROM.
But I'm trying to make a home-brew XBOX mod chip (NOT for piracy!) and the tutorials I see tell you to use a FlashRAM chip in a PC motherboard or program an EEPROM in a ROM programmer. Is this a misprint or can motherboards designed for EEPROM do BOTH?!
The tutorial I'm following can be found HERE.
I'm using a solderless breadboard instead of a mounted socket & PCB until I can get all the components (A little help here?).

Confirmed by www.i-hacked.com:
"*There are currently 2 ways to burn the bios on the chip, depending on what kind of chip you get. If you get a flashable chip you can use a computer to flash it, otherwise you will need an eprom burner*"

Yes, they can and do. I have built about 16 computers, and never had one that did not have a socketed ROM BIOS chip (pretty standard with Asus), and all have been flashable EEPROMs. They have all been standard 32-pin rectangular chips with 16 pins a side - and must be properly oriented. Sounds like your tutorial is speaking in general terms of chip function.
