Can Partition Magic turn NTFS partitions into FAT32 ones?

Martin

Lifer
I have 3 partitions - 2fat32 and 1 ntfs. Can I use partition magic to convert the NTFS one into FAT32 and then combine all three partitions into 1 big one?

thanks

I don't think that is possible...but try this...copy all data from the NTFS partition over to a FAT32 partition and reformat the NTFS partition using FAT32

even if it did work....when you mess around with partitions like that....it would be a good idea just to do a fresh start.

According to their site, all this should be possible, but I wanted to see if anyone knew first hand.

I know it seems illogical, but I have 5 partitions right now and I only need 3.

Also, when I download something, it takes a long time to move from one partition to the other, and no time to move it within the drive.

It is possible with pm 7 to convert ntfs to fat 32, and then be able to merge all 3 into 1 partition. What might happen though, is that it may take all of the data from the 2nd 2 partitions, once the ntfs is converted into fat 32, and make them subfolders under your primary partition. Which is really no problem. Then run drive mapper and you should be set.

I would just backup all of your data and start over. That sounds like too much work for software to do correctly. If PM can do it, it is indeed an excellent piece of software.
