Can overclocking CPU influence video card?

I just overclocked my CPU recently, so now its running at a stable 2.6 Ghz. My reasons for concern first started when I started up Call of Duty 2, which I hadn't played for a while. Well, to make a long story short, Whenver I get shot or die, my screen turns a light baby blue (not the blue screen of death). I suppose its harmless but its getting really annoying. I first thought maybe it was something to do with the multiplayer mods I had, so I deleted them all. After trying that, it did not fix the problem. I haven't overclocked my video card in any way, the only major thing I've done is replace the stock heatsink with a Arctic Cooling NV Silencer. What could be causing my game to be all weird like this?

Also, don't know if its of any relevance, but whenever I run 3DMark05, right around the 4th test or so, although my pc continues to run, my monitor turns black, and I can't turn it back on.

ya, I would say that 2.6 is not very stable for the heavy use your CPU sustains from gaming. I would lower it for sure. fI am wondering though, what are the temps of the chip under load and idle, also what type of coling are you using?

I think that the 4th test on 05 is where the CPU starts getting tested, thats prolly why it cuts out like that, it is prolly locked up at that point. it has happened to me in the past whilst OC'ing my 3500+

I would recommend that you have to downclock your CPU a bit

What exactly do you mean by "stable 2.6GHz"?
Can you run Prime95 for 2 hours with no errors?

I'll answer all the questions in on go.

Navid: Yes I can run Prime95 for more then 2 hours with no problems. I left it on overnight and it had passed the torture test.

Fistandantilis: I am using air-cooling. I am using the stock AMD heatsink/fan (thinking of upgrading to a third-party one), 2 Antec 120mm case fans, whatever fans come with the motherboard/powersupply, and Arctic Cooling NV Silencer for my video card.

Even though I can run games perfectly fine for hours on end (with the exception that weird "blue" call of duty 2), can pass Prime95 and Memtest no problem, I do crash on the 4th test of 3DMark05. You guys still think I should downclock?

what vcore are u running on that overclock?

And no, your CPU overclock should not be effecting your video card.

What an overclocked CPU can do is push your video card to 100% usage if your system was previously CPU limited. That's the only thing I can think of that an overclocked CPU would do to a GPU.

If you're monitor turns off that usually indicates a problem with the vid card. In no way should your CPU cause your monitor to turn off without turning off the rest of your system.

gonna go for the obvious answer here. did u remember to lock ur PCI express bus frequency at 100mhz for nvidia or 105mhz for ATI? if not the PCI express bus is now running at the same speed as ur HTT which is NOT good for u vcard. go into ur bios and check that and see if it helps any.
