I just defragged my hardrives and restarted my computer.When it was posting up it said smart drive found a problem with my second hardrive.It then would not boot to windows xp home normally so I started in safe mode with network.I ran the maxtor test on both drives and the 120 gig secondary drive has gone bad so I just unplugged the ribbon cable and restarted.
When I restart it gets to the black Windows XP stays there for a few seconds then my computer restarts and comes up with the option screen to start in safe mode,start normally,last known good config.ect.
I've tried them all to get it to start with no luck.
I started with Norton Ghost 9.0 and restored C
rive from an External hard drive with the back up on it and tried to restart and get the same thing.
This computer has run without a hitch for months.
My system is home built Asus P4P800E deluxe with 1gig of ram(all ram is recognized)
ATI 9800 Pro
Audigy z2
Maxtor 160 gig HD working
Windows XP Home
I think this must be a configuation problem and not an OS problem since it wouldn't boot after I restored the Crive.I went into setup and it only shows the one HD but I don't know what else to look for.
Can anyone help on this problem?
