can only dial out to dsl line in safe mode

All of a sudden I cannot connect to my outside dsl line. I can ping my router ok in command mode and yahoo with no problem but not in regular windows mode. I ran housecall from trend micro and it found many trojans which were deleted, ran webroot spy washer, found 38 malware or whatever, deleted them all, ran Norton's virus, clean yet I can't dial out thru dsl in regular windows. I checked my ethernet card and Windows reported it is working otherwise I could not go out in safe mode

Any suggestions on how to clear up this problem ? What can I try ? Should I try system restore ?

If you can ping www. yahoo.com in safe mode then you don't have any hardware issues and you are successfully doing name resolution through your DSL provider.

Did you also open command prompt and try ping yahoo in regular windows?
The first thing I'd do is go to Device Manager and remove my Ethernet connection. Then reboot, you should get a 'New Hardware Found' message and let it reinstall the Ethernet. try again.

If this isn't successful, go to command prompt and run the command ipconfig /all see if it matchs what you think it should. Pay particular attention to the DHCP, DNS, Gateway settings. DHCP and Gateway should match your router IP address. DNS should be what your DSL provider supplies.

Does everything seem OK after you cleaned up all you virus's. If so, avoid System Restore at all costs.

Hello,

I tried it in software by disabling my cmos and rebooted a couple of times and then enabled it and was unsuccessful. Only worked in safe mode. I tried windows repair twice, still same problem. I have a corrupted file somewhere, no trojans or viruses that could be detected after I ran Adware and deleted all the questionable files so I decided to reinstall Windows over my regular windows and am now reinstalling it. I now can go out to the network in normal mode and am reinstalling the programs one at a time but all my files are there so I will do just that. I learned some new things from you and will keep them in my folder of computer problems.

Thanks for your help
