Bought a motherboard from another forum user here. Anyway it doesn't seem to work so it looks like I have to RMA the board back. However I don't have the receipt. I've asked the seller on this board to send me the receipt which he said he would include when he sent the board to me. He hasn't been replying to my messages so I might just be without a receipt. Now is it possible to RMA the board to Abit without a receipt. The online RMA states I need one. Anyone here have experience when RMA'ing stuff to Abit.

I'm considering purchasing an Abit mb from someone on here as well & they state they don't have the receipt so I went to Abit's website.
From what I understand, if one doesn't have the receipt, they go by manufacturing date. If it's within the 3 years, you're fine...otherwise, fork over $25.

I quote from the abit website: "If you have the invoice of original purchase with you and your product is still within that warranty period, we will take care of your repair for you absolutely FREE. In case you lost your invoice, then you will have to write a check for USD $25.00. to ABIT Computer USA to cover the shipping and handling costs."

I think without the invoice you have to pay $25 even if its under warranty. But what constitues an invoice. Lets say I bought this from ebay, they usually don't provide invoices. Maybe I can just make up a convincing looking one.

Problem is, it has to be from a "qualified reseller". So, an eBay receipt (unless the person was a retailer/qualified reseller) would probably not work. By qualified I mean someone like an electronics store, ie Fry's, Best Buy, Newegg, etc. Maybe an electronics store local to you that carries ABIT MB's would be a better choice for your "receipt generation". BTW, (and especially in case the mods are checking in) I do not condone any acts which would constitue fraud or abuse. I am merely telling you what ABIT would look for in a receipt. I had a similar situation come up a few years ago with an ABIT that I bought on a different forum and was told by the company that I could not use that receipt for warranty purposes. "Hand over the $25" is the general response I got. But hey, just weigh the cost of a new MB (plus shipping if applicable) and decide what is the best course of action.
