I have a perscription dated 9-20-01 for acne medicine (septra ds) and I've yet to fill it. Can I get it filled if I still need it?

Acne is suck, I eat good, wash face daily, and I still get it, my dad had it bad for about a year but this is 2 years going on! at least I don't have it really bad, or on my back/neck like most people.

It's good for 60 days where I am, unless it's a controlled substance then the limitation is much more strict.

I can't answer to your state's specific law but federal law states that a prescription is good for 1 year from the date that it was written if it isn't a controlled substance (Septra is not controlled). State laws can be more restrictive than federal laws but I doubt they would be in this case.

Make sure you drink a lot of water on this med and avoid long periods of sunlight because it can make you burn a little easier

Thanks h8red, but I live in oregon, sunlight is as rare as my ability to fill perscriptions :)

Yeah, you should be able to get it filled. You can at least take it and try. Narcotic 'scripts usually expire after 30-60 days, but something like acne meds, unless it's accutane, last 3 months to a year.

Who cares if it expires... just bring it in and if it is, they'll just call up the doc and ask them if they can go ahead and fill the order. No biggie, especially if it's not a controlled substance. Like i said with my inhalers, i haven't seen the doc in years... although my refill script ran out a long time ago, i just bring my inhaler in when i need it, and they give the doc a call and ask if they could refill it. Takes all but 2 mins.
