Wanting to buy a new computer that runs Windows XP home, I have Office 97 and am wondering if I will be able to use it on WindowsXP. I have 97 files on my old computer that I must be able to access on this new computer, I must know if it will work before I purchase this machine.

Please just straight answers, I can not test this first , that is why I am asking here. Thank you.

It works fine. The only issue that you would run into would be if other people wanted to use it. WinXP has profiles just for each person and you would have to install is for every person set up on the machine, or use a MSI creator and do it that way...

Yes, it does work under Windows XP. The only problems I've found is that some obscure visual basic code stopped working when I switched from Windows NT to Windows 2000 Pro, so watch out for that if you're deep into macros.

I just finished installing Office 97 on an XP machine with several users, and I only needed to install it once. There doesn't seem to be any problems yet.

At my last contract we had all sorts of problems getting it to work correctly under different profiles in both XP and 2K. If you add the user level to it, you have to change some of the reg key permissions for some of the things to work correctly, like spell check in word.
