Can nVidia no longer write drivers?

Judging from some of the posts on this forum, ATI has quite a ways to go in Vista for their DX9 parts let alone their unreleased DX10 parts. ;)

Vista drivers seem to be pretty close though, at least on par with the latest 100-series Beta drivers for XP. Just need a DX10 game worth playing to launch and I'd be comfortable making the switch. I doubt I'd be able to say the same if R600 launched tomorrow and I picked one up.

My experience with ATI drivers the past 3-4yrs have been positive. NVidia has been slightly disappointing for me the past year or so.
Just my experience. I should point out I do not use the ATI CCC.

I never used to use ATI CCC but with Vista it's really not bad. It opens fast as hell and it's pretty easy to get around.

My experience with Vista and nvidia (6800GS) was nothing short of awful.

I'm loving being back in XP with my 84.21s :D

I agree. I played around with Vista Home Premium a bit and it was pretty fast to open. The only thing wrong with ATI's drivers that I could find under 32bit Vista was that VIVO is borked.

I'm using the current 64-bit release drivers for my Leadtek 8800GTX under Vista Ultimate, with zero problems. Before that, the 32-bit drivers with my 7600GT under WinXP Pro SP2 worked perfectly.

For my dual monitor setup, I get a teeny bit of screen tearing when Windows first opens and the card and monitor get synched, but that lasts only a mere fraction of a second. I think that's caused by the fact Windows Update loaded nVidia drivers during install (I thought I'd turned off auto updates) then I loaded the nVidia drivers on top of that. So this weekend, I'll remove all the drivers and reinstall the official ones only.

OTOH, I'm a bit pissed that I am still using a beta driver for my Go-6600 card on my laptop, with Vista Home Premium. Yeah, the card is 2 years old, but I only replace my laptop every 4-5 years, not every year.
