Can not set monitor to native resolution.

I'm using a DVI-VGA converter currently since my monitor only supports HDMI and VGA. It seems that I can not change the resolution to anything that isn't 4:3 when my display is 16:9 natively. I noticed this problem after I unplugged my monitor to move it around a little. My GPU is an AMD 6850.
 
An Acer S243HL. I found the disk with the driver and installed it and now the problem is solved :Y
