Hey guys,

You would figure putting systems together as long as I have I could figure this one out.

Any clues to how to get this sound to work? I have Windows XP and have updated the Nforce drivers and downloaded the latest drivers off of ASUS's page but still the MB is not seeing the hardware. I have sound selected as AUto in the BIOS. (auto and disabled are the two selections)

Help me guys.

For starters,

1) is the motherboard's front-audio jumper block capped off as shown in this picture?

2) does Device Manager show the hardware as if it were all ok, or does it have yellow ! on it?

If neither of those tips work, also check whether there's a standoff under the motherboard in the position I've circled in red in this picture. The Asus doesn't have a hole there, unlike some motherboards, so you wouldn't want a standoff under it there. Could short out your audio. Just a thought.
