can NON ATI radoen card use ATI driver??

i have read some where that a gigabyte radeon 8500 card can use either the driver supplied by gigabyte or the ATI's driver. What's the different?? And have anybody try to use the ATI driver with this gigabyte card??

Will the ATI driver fully support all the card's feature ..... let say VTuner .....

Any card that`s powered by ATi(like OEM partner of ATi,Sapphire,Gigabyte etc) can use an ATI driver.

I don't know about this one, just got my Saphire 9700pro in yesterday, and tried to load the latest ATI Catalyst drivers, and it clobberd my system, made it really unstable, So I tried the powered by ATI drivers and it's rock solid. Could be something went wrong with the download, or maybe newest Catalyst drivers don't like Win98SE very much. just my 2cents
