Starcraft has the nostalgic effect but it is still awesome.

And the only way to play Ocarina of Time is on the N64. Speaking of which, I still have that game, and my N64 still works, hmm. . .

I hooked up my N64 and played through OT again a couple of years ago. It felt like it took me much longer than the first time I did it because free time is more hard to come by now. Still an awesome game, one of the top 3 N64 games I own.

Nostalgia is blinding. Horribly so. I have a friend who reveres Doom and thinks no FPS since can even compare, and that's just stupid. RPG's are probably the only games that can really stand the test of time.

Doom is a bit different simply because it's the grandfather of the modern FPS.

I find I probably enjoy new games as much as I do old ones. There are plenty that hold up incredibly well just due to the high production quality at the time. Pretty much every single Zelda and Mario (uh, let's forget the CD-I ones though) title is still a joy to play.
