Can new BIOS low CPU temperature?

My CPU temperature reading dropped to 29C from 38C (idle) and 45C from 52C(full load) after I flashed BIOS. Is this possible? or just the reading is not correct either with old version bios or new one?

MB: ASUS A8N-VM CSM
CPU: X2 3800
Stock heatsink
Cool & Quiet enabled
New Version bios: 0610

That's possible, but I don't really know which one to trust... Seeing that you use a stock heatsink, the previous temps looked more "trustworthy"...

It's much more likely that the new BIOS has tweaked the readings, rather than the ACTUAL temperatures.

Agreed. I can think of nothing that a BIOS flash would do to actually lower temps without slamming the performance or OC ability. However, creating a new BIOS to change how the sensors report the temps is very likely.

In the Abit forum there were tons of people in there who complained about high temps with the AV8 with each BIOS release. Guess what happened next.... the latest BIOS reported a temp drop averaging 10C and the complaints dropped. Abit simply responded to the perception that users were unhappy with what they believed were high readings. My 3800 is showing 19C (66.2F) right now, which would make me happy if I thought that number was real. I have no idea what the real temp is but if I go with the "touch and feel" test I know it's not hot.
