Can nested quotes be held at a higher limit?

As opposed to a single one, how about holding at a threshold of 4-5? One is extremely short. With 4-5 you can still have good discussion, and anything that is pure neffing gets cut off.

Or maybe have code so if the reply is less than XXX characters, it will nest only once as opposed to multiple times. That way would eliminate the problem of neffers that just quote each other with "+1" or "posting in a [bla bla] thread"

I agree.

I can't follow threads anymore. When you have 2 or more conversations going on in a thread, its impossible to follow without some level of nested quoting.

Probably not what you're used to but there's the multi-quote option, though it would probably be a pain to use it in a long thread, having to scroll up & down to get the quotes you want.

I like single quote. People are too lazy to properly trim quotes, and their posts get needlessly large. If someone wants to multi quote, it's easy enough to copy/paste, then add the tags.

You can manually nest, but that is unfortunately a hassle. Especially in a very active thread that is moving at a considerable pace.

Why does it matter if posting gets needlessly large? Just scroll down.
Without nesting conversations devolve into crap. There are other vB forums that I have been to, and avoid, for that very reason.

I need to find a new FT forum to join.

3 is good or at least 2. Hard to track a conversation when someone just posts a smiley or short comment and that's all that gets Quoted with no Reference to the what that was about.

Because it's irritating needlessly scrolling on a forum. If you can't remember what you read 2 seconds before, you need to see a doctor, or lay off the weed.

It's also irritating when someone quotes someone who quoted something from two pages back...and you have no reference anymore. 😛
