Didn't really think about it. I think fallout 3 would be the only questionable one...

Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl
Fallout 3
Left 4 Dead
Mass Effect
The Witcher Enhanced Edition

---
Athlon X2 2400? or something like like ~2ghz
Nvidia 256mb 8600gts
2gb of Ram
640GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s WD HDD
---

are these games playable with this rig?

I have a very simliar system. L4D and Mass are the only two games of those I have played, but they can be run fine on medium settings.

Yeah they are playable but if I were you I would skimp on 2 of them, save a little cash and upgrade the 8600gts to a 9800gt or 4850.

Fallout 3 official system specs:

Minimum System Requirements:

Windows XP/Vista
1GB System RAM (XP)/ 2GB System RAM (Vista)
2.4 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 256MB RAM (NVIDIA 6800 or better/ATI X850 or better)

Recommended System Requirements:

Intel Core 2 Duo processor
2 GB System RAM
Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 512MB RAM (NVIDIA 8800 series, ATI 3800 series)

I think you're in good shape for it. There is no significant patch released though, so it's fair to say that a number of systems have some issues with it. Most are not show stoppers. It's going for $40 shipped at newegg with a promo code right now IIRC.

This is good advice right here. A video card upgrade will do wonders for your system.

I agree as well, invest in a better video card for sure.

Maybe its the X2 4200?

Should really tell us what resolution you want to run them at.

They will run, just turn down the effects. It also depends on the resolution you play at.

If you are running the games on Windows XP at 1280x1024, you should be fine. You have a similar computer to mine (I stopped overclocking my computer and it now runs at the stock 2.2GHz) except I have a more powerful GPU. I actually bought the GPU just so I could ask for games for Christmas last year. You could probably do the same, and get a GeForce 9600, or a HD 3850 or HD4670 for around $50. They might even be cheaper than that if you find a deal. All of the above would run any modern game under XP at 1280x1024 with maximum settings (even Crysis).
