I'm currently using Acer G600P(P4 2.4 Ghz) with PC 2100 256mb + 512mb.
I'm considering of upgrading the ram to 1GB but i'm wondering if my motherboard supports PC 3200..
How do i check this and how do i know if my comp can run dual channel memory?

Hi, You could look in your Mother board manual or go to the Manufacturers Site and check it. All chips receive the speed designation after testing as they come off the assembly line. You can always use faster ones if they are the same type except for the speed. 3200 is about the same price as 2700 here. Luck, Jim

you can run 3200, but you may not be able to use its speeds. Get CPU-Z and check the FSB. If it says:

If 100Mhz FSB-
Then check your bus speed. If it says:
100Mhz-use PC100
400Mhz-DDR PC2100

If 133Mhz FSB-
Then check your bus speed. If it says:
133Mhz-use PC133
533Mhz-DDR PC2700

If 200Mhz FSB- use DDR PC3200

PC3200 is backwards compatible anyway, so it should work fine with your system. What FSB does your 2.4 run at, there were 400mhz FSB northwoods, 533mhz FSB northwood and non-Ht prescott, and 2.4c 800mhz FSB with HT. PC3200 should work fine with any, but will only be fully utilized with a 2.4c with 800mhz FSB.
