can my CPU fan face any way on cpu?

i ask because i just got all my parts today in the mail, thinking there should be no problem, but when i saw my ram: corsair 2gb with extended heatspreaders
i saw that it is HUGE, i mean dayum i didnt expect it to be half that size.
The first thing i thought of was, 'Oh dang how is my CPU fan going to fit with these ram being so big!
heres my cpu fan: zalman cnps 9700 as you can see, its pretty big as well, so i predict i might be having a problem with space between those two parts
mobo is the ga-p35-ds3l if it matters at all.

just wondering if the fan allows me to sit it any way, so the heatsink on the fan takes up space in an up/down fashion rather than a left/right way..

and if it does actually fit both ways, which way should i sit my fan -_-;
never really thought about it, but now that im ready to overclock i want to do everything just right.

also, i have an antec 900, im sure that that is pretty important if i can indeed mount my fan any way, because of the 200mm on the top and the wind tunnel that can be moved to blow on the cpu. My question is: which way should i do et 😛

Given the case whichever way it fits should be no problem and if that usues the standard zalman style mounting bracket it should be possible to mount it either way.

the mounting bracket should be symetrical, so you can mount it whatever direction you want. I would reccomend having it blow towards the case-fan exhaust, and have the cool air blow into the cpu heatsink by way of the ram heatsinks.

u can do it both ways. i just built a rig for a friend yesterday in an antec 900.

he had an evga 680i mobo and a TR Ultra 120x with the corsair dominator ram with those crazy high heatsinks.

i actually could fit the TR witht he fan pushing towards the rear exhaust without worry about hte ram slots - what got me is the cpu socket was so close to the top of the board, it wouldnt let the heatsink fit due to touching the top of the antec 900.

the TR Ultra 120x we mounted with the fan pushing up towards the big boy blowhole. it barely fit with the northrbidge heatsink touching the scythe fan he got (he got the wide scythe fan for some reason) but works like a champ.
