My Sister, her boyfriend, and I are all on a sharetalk plan from U.S. Cellular. When we started the plan a month of two ago, we got Kyocera 1135's for $30 each, and each of them also had a $30 rebate. Her boyfriend covered the cost of the phones up front, and then would just keep the rebates when they came. Now, a few days ago he had his phone stolen. He went into the store and had the service cut off, but they told him he wouldnt get the rebates for ANY of the phones now, because he lost his. Can they do that?? I'm tempted to go in and ask to see that policy in writing, because it seems like a bunch of BS to me.

Makes sense to me. He doesn't posses the phone, he shouldn't be eligible for the rebate.

well seeing how you're under a contract..
you can't just cancel
if he had insurance, he should file a claim.
if he doesn't... then he'll need to purchase another phone.

if the acct was suspended your still elligble for the rebate, but the $30 MIR states that you have to have signed a contract for 1 or 2 years. They do check to see if you have service with us before they send the check. If you canceled the acct they will see that you no longer have service and will not send the check

He didnt cancel, he just suspended the account. I could understand them not giving the rebate for canceling the entire plan, but his phone is the only one thats even suspended. Thats no reason to not honor the other 2 rebates atleast.
