Can my brother not play online on the PS3?

I have a PS3 which I'm taking home and told my brother he can also play MW2 online. Is this possible? I'm not talking about us both playing together online at one go but playing separately online on the same machine is my query.

I'm pretty sure you can. you can use the same account or create a new account for him.

I would not like him to spoil my record since he is a novice. PSN is not allowing me to login using another signin id.

This. Create a new user on the PS3, then associate your Bro's PSN account with the new user.

Your Bro logs in with his user to play, and then you log into your user to use yours.
