Can my Asus Radeon 9200SE 128meg handle 1440x900 (19" Wide)?

My second computer has an Asus Radeon 9200SE 128meg (VGA, RCA, S-Video: outputs) video card and an old CRT monitor that is dying, so I was looking into replacing it with a new 19" Widescreen LCD (debating between the ACER AL1916W or the LG L194WTX-BF, if you have any suggestions please) mostly used for browsing and watching movies. Thing is before going to make the buy I wanted to confirm that my video card could at least handle that resolution.

So I installed the latest ASUS video card drivers for the 9200series (new ati catalyst) and went through the options there, I notice that if I set the REFRESH RATE to 60Hz I can bring my resolution (desktop area) up as high as 1920x1080 but the option for 1440x900 (19" Widescreen) isn't there.

Is there a way to be 100% sure that my video card can handle the new 19" LCD Widescreen monitor?
Any help or hints will be much appreciated.
Thanks,

Given that it supports 1920x1200 and 1920x1440, I would be surprised if it couldn't also do 1440x900. You might need to force it with something like Powerstrip if the drivers don't recognize it as a usable resolution.

Try unchecking the box to hide unsupported video modes (if you didn't already do that; normally it won't show weird resolutions like that unless you have a widescreen LCD actually plugged in), or download the demo of Powerstrip and see if you can force that resolution.

I thought I remembered people having problems getting original RADEON cards (which are the RADEON 7000/7500) to do widescreen resolutions, but that the 8000 and 9000 series could do it.

UF Matt: Thanks for the link - I might need to get a new video card too I guess....

Matthias99: where is the checkbox for "hide unsupported video modes" located? I would really love to give it a try...
Thanks,

Thanks,

Control Panel / Display / Settings / "Advanced..." / Monitor (at least in Win2K; it may be slightly different in XP, but it's definitely under the "Advanced..." subpanel).

Chances are that res will show up as an option once you connect the LCD, atleast that's what's happened in my experiences.
