MSI N460GTX Hawk Talon Attack GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 &
MSI GTX 460 1GB HAWK standard

Can these two cards be used as SLI???

Please information abt what problems will arise if I use these two cards as SLI.

both has different core clock speed.

It should work fine, they are both 460s. You will just be running both card at the lowest speeds.

Can I run MSI GTX Hawk and galaxy GTX 460 in SLI?

What performance increase will I get over single MSI GTX 460??

I am getting an MSI GTX 460 hawk and MSI GTX 460 Hawk fermi talon attack, will they SLI and work better than single MSI GTX 460 hawk.
Please mention what performance increase I will get when I SLI these both cards?

Thanks!!

Im sure it will work fine, my MSI hawk and MSI cyclone 460's play nice together.

I was concerning abt the core clock and memory speed, both the cards have different.

My MSI hawk runs at 780 mhz (default speed). If I add a MSI cyclone or any other 460 will my both cards will run at my default MSi hawk clock speed or less?? (this is major concern as I want both the cards to run at least at my MSI hawk speed or more(if I overclock them)

People who have already done this plz comment pro's and con's so that I go with your suggestions.

I also have second option in my mind to buy a new card.(This option is expensive)

Sorry for so much trouble but I have too many questions on my mind.

1. Should both the SLI cards have 1GB ram?? or one with 786 and 1 with 1 GB will work??
2. Should both cards be from same vendor or different are also accepted??
3. If one card is MSI GTX Hawk standard and another is GTX 460 Fermi, will work fine??

And plz also throw some light on standard GTX 460 and Fermi GTX 460.

Uh, all 4xx cards are Fermi cards. It doesn't matter what name you put on there.

They are both 460 chips too, doesn't matter what name you put on it. Like I said before, they will both run at the slowest settings together. Whatever the lower core clock is, they will both run at it, and whatever the lower memory clock is, they will both run at it. Whichever is the lowest amount of VRAM run per card (I guess in yours it would be 768 MB), both cards will use 768 MB.

As long as you have two 460s, it will work. The names only matter for single card setups as any distinction is lost when you SLI them. Pros... you will get some fast throughput from the SLI setup, meaning faster performance when processing power is in demand. Cons... limited by lowest VRAM, more power draw, more heat.

I think it's not worth it. A new GTX 660 is around $200, maybe less with sales. A new 7870 is about the same price too. Both should give you the same throughput as 460 SLI, but with less power draw, newer tech, and more VRAM.

Thanks. The GTX 660 Ti and 7870 are way too expensive here in India, I am getting an GTX 460 hawk talon attack for 7000Rs. Its a used card let see how much bargain I can get for this.

The talon attack is 810 mhz GTX 460 hwak and mine is GTX 460 hawk is 780 Mhz.

This means both card will run with 780 mhz. If I overclock them to 850 mhz stable then what?? |
Does the overclock settings take effect for these SLI config or I just have to use them at default core 780mhz??

It takes the lowest overclock across both cards. If both are 850+, then you will have 850 on both cards. If you have 1000 on one and 900 on the other, both will run at 900.

I've got my 2 eVGA GTX 460 1GB overclocked to 827/1654/4200 on stock voltage. Why don't you do the same for both of your cards? It does make a difference especially in newer games like FarCry 3 and Crysis 3.

Use MSI Afterburner 3.00.

Check out the SLI FAQ, has alot of informatin in there.
http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/sli/faq

Also, SLI is not officially supported and might not work with cards having different memory amounts. Usually that would be 1 or 2gb versions. A recent change has been made.

In the case of those gtx 460's they also have a different memory bus interface. One is 256mb-1gb the other is 192mb-768memory. That is also usually not supported.

https://forums.geforce.com/default/...-313-96-update-continuing-to-current-drivers/
I have attempted to update to the newest drivers once again to find that my SLI no longer works and that my drivers cease to function. I am on Windows 8 Professional x64 and have one EVGA GTX 580 Classified 3GB and one ASUS GTX 580 1.5GB stock. Previously using the coolbits key I have been able to easily enable my SLI feature but now one I enable SLI one of my two screens turns off, my NVIDIA Control Panel locks up, and upon restart neither video card is seen by the system. Rolling back to 310.90 fixes this issue but I would like to get current for Bioshock Infinities.

Any help would be appreciated.

SLI will not be able to be activated, Coolbits no longer works with our drivers after 310.90, We do not officially support SLI between two cards with different amounts of memory and Coolbits was never an officially supported application. So unfortunately I have no suggestions to get it working with the 314.22 drivers.

As far as I remember with 460 notty is correct. They need the same memory bus architecture at least. You might run those cards together but not in true sli.

There used to be a comprehensive list on geforce forums about that issue, but I cannot unfortunately find it. :(

You can run different clocked cards but likewise the vram needs to be the same size.

Good luck anyways. :)

Thanks guys, I am buying the GTX 460 hawk Talon attack.

Both my GTX 460 Hawk and GTX 460 hawk Talon attack have same 1 GB memory but the talon attack has slightly over clocked core of 810 mhz. I don't think it will create an issue.

My both cards will run at least clocked GPU i.e 780 Mhz, but I can over-clock them to stable 850 if possible. Soon to buy but the seller is not going below 7000Rs. its card used for 2.3 years but in 9 months warranty remaining.

If its worth buying a 2.3 yr used card, let me know.
