Of course racism exists today. I have not read one single post in this thread that indicates anyone here believes otherwise. You, however, have an agenda. And that agenda is filled with propaganda bullsh!t, such as your fabricated etymologies of the words picnic and n*gger. You have made it quite clear to me that you are easily the most racist person in this thread. Good job.Originally posted by: Narmer
Racism exists today. People don't want to discuss it because they're uncomfortable about it.
Name calling doesn't make you a smarter person, quite the opposite. I may not have done my homework on those words, but fundamentals of my arguments are still there. Furthermore, my "agenda" as you call it should be prescient if you interpret it the right way. The African Americans in this country have been dealt with half-heartedly and in a reluctant and defensive manner. America (again) is trying to impose what should be a voluntary system (democracy) in a very tough neighborhood and is doing it with double standards that are stark and repulsive.
The two scenerios are rich in irony because the fear and terror Americans of African descent have gotten accustomed to are coming home to roost because of the terrorism brought down by Muslims who are tired of the double standards of American democracy in their home countries. It'll last so long as people here continue to deny the fact that we are no better than other nations looking out for what's best for them. We are not a benevolent empire. We are not bringing democracy to the Middle East. We are there for our own interest. But the fear of sporadic and unimageniable violence has taken hold in this country may put the brakes on those illusions of equality that we supposedly espouse and seek to bring to others. In truth, we are no different. We're like the pigs in Animal Farm. Perhaps, unless Americans learn our lessons from history, we may have to endure what the Europeans endured before they too realized what evil can do when it lies dormant for such a long, long time. It becomes part of the fabric of society and terrible things happen when that evil rears it's ugly head. Fortunately, Europeans have been forced to look at what all that can do. The only other country that really hasn't learned from history is Japan. Even though she is tamed byher neighbors, her homogenous society makes it difficult for her to see the evil that was done by her own "liberation of Asia from the Europeans." The massive amount of Chinese and other Asians killed in the name of liberating Asia, but in reality picking off where they left off.
Coming back to this country, anyone old enough can see our double-standard in the Middle East. The pride and arrogance we have in our political beliefs was used as a launchpad to start a conflict that will drain us of strength. The irony is that the execution of those beliefs that Americans so worship is as hollow as the motives for invading sovereign nations.
The double standards that's lead Muslims fighters to attack us with such cruel and blunt instruments will be our own downfall unless we come to the realization that we need to clean our own house before trying to clean others.
