Can memory just "go bad"??
The memory in question is KingMax PC150. 2 sticks of 256mb that worked great for nearly a year at the most agressive settings on a ABIT KT7AR. Running T-Bird 1.2G anywhere from 800 mHz to 1.2G, usually with 133 bus, but at reduced core voltage: 1.5V. For running system with slower quieter fans in Win98SE. Max temps never hits 50C, idles in mid-high 30s C.
No problems till the last day or two when mouse / display started being very jumpy. Not a dirty mouse. Replaced mouse, seemed to be ok, then random lockups.
After many hours of diagnostics, discovered Norton Utilities memory test will pass only with ONE or the other but not both sticks of memory in any of the 3 mem slots. With both sticks, even at low speed settings in BIOS, remains crash-prone
So the question is: Is this really a memory problem, or could it be a mobo or PSU issue as well??
