For those convinced of the ultimate reality of Evil in the world, just heard on the radio that an Egyptian terrorist group responsible for or associated with the killing of Anwar Sadat has announced that they were wrong and have renounced terrorism. It's interesting that people change. Maybe truth is inate and people get around to it eventually.

we can if we want to, but sadly there are plenty of other "goals" that take higher priority for people so alot has to change first.

And most humans reject change if it does anything to harm their current position...so thats not going to happen either, unfortunetly. Its too bad really...but even though the world needs some pretty big changes right now, its not going to happen.... *sigh*

No mankind will eventually destroy itself because as a species we are so selfish, we put our needs ahead of everything including the welfare of our own planet.

Why we just can't have peace and free love with lots of f*cking is beyond me? :D

Because there is always someone out there that wants what you are f*cking and once they decide to take it there goes your peace.

That is just part of the mentality that we currently live in. If things were to ever change, that would have to change also. YOU LACK DISCIPLINE.

It's very easy to be pesimistic about mankind. But more people have better civil rights, better health care, and better educations than ever before. Yes, there are many places that have barely changed, and the majority is still poor and has little chance at climbing the social ladder.
We aren't advancing evenly, but things have gotten better. The idea that women, minorities, etc. are equal in ability, worth, and merit would seem like a completely alien idea to people during the middle ages, for example.
So we are getting better, just not in the perfect way we'd like to.

To be able to think about someone elses needs instead of your own would stop the situation you mentioned.....

So you extrapolate from my comment about the human condition that somehow I personally don't think about others needs? For some reason you seem intent on personalizing this and I am not quite sure why. You know nothing about me to base this comment on.

yea, but you don't help anything by personalizing his personalizing, if I may get personal for a moment.

Also heard that democracy has grown in 41 countries around the world. Maybe it will soon be one big international Berkeley word.
